Why Coffee for a fundraiser?
A modern parable explains why coffee is our chosen fundraising commodity:
Be the Coffee Bean
Imagine that there is a pot of boiling water in front of you, along with a carrot, an egg, and ground coffee beans. You place the carrot inside the pot and let it sit for some time, after a while the carrot has gone from a tough, rigid vegetable to soft and weak. Repeat this exercise with the egg, and after a while the egg changes from fragile and liquid-filled, to hardened and solid. Finally, add the coffee bean to the pot of water and something very different happens. The ground coffee totally changes the boiling water into a rich, aromatic, and delightful creation.
The boiling water represents life and the adversity it can bring. If you’re like the carrot, you’ll allow the trials of life to render you soft and weak. Others might be like the egg, and allow the troubles of life to harden them to the world. The ground coffee bean experienced the same adversity as the carrot and the egg, but instead of allowing the situation to change it, the ground coffee changed the environment around it into something better than the sum of its parts. We believe everyone should strive to be like the coffee bean.
Solid Rock Coffee was born of this same philosophy. Through the power of our roasted coffee we are striving to change the world for the better. No matter what obstacles, hardships, or tough times might arise, we know that carrying a “Coffee Bean” mentality is the best way to approach whatever life might throw at us. That is the core of our fundraising program and why we selected coffee as a vehicle to help churches around the state of Georgia grow and continue to spread the Message via acts of service, kindness, and love.
